About Simula UiB
Leading research in cryptography, privacy and emerging technologies
We are a leading research institute in cryptography and information theory based in Bergen. Our research spans algorithm and protocol design and analysis, side-channel security, privacy-enhancing technologies, AI security and privacy, and quantum technologies.
In the recent EVALMIT research evaluation conducted by
the Norwegian Research Council, Simula UiB was rated
We also aim to strengthen highly qualified professional competence in ICT security in Norway. We educate and train early-career researchers at the master’s, PhD and postdoctoral levels in cryptography, information theory and related areas.
Simula UiB is a partner in the SURE-AI centre, and the host of the Centre for Quantum Communication Networks and Applications (QCNA), one of Norway’s four national centres for quantum technology research.
